Meet Rob

An Avid Sports Fan

Rob was born and raised in Northern Kentucky. He stayed local for college as well- he graduated from Northern Kentucky University!

Outside of work, Rob enjoys anything sports related! He is a huge Bengals, UK, and Reds fan! He also enjoys hockey and running half marathons once or twice a year. On top of all of that, Rob trains in martial arts (Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai) in his spare time.

He has been married for almost five years. Rob and his wife have a two-year-old son and another one due in July. His family is his motivation. He does whatever he can to provide for them and to be able to enjoy his passions!

Rob has over a decade in the military and civilian logistics, including over ten years full-time with the Army National Guard.

“I love the team-oriented direction of PGT and that everyone can (and will) assist and work alongside each other. I think PGT has so much to offer someone that is looking to start in the logistics industry.” – Rob Johnson

Power of PGT with Jason

Leadership & Compensation

You’ve heard from a few of our associates on what they like about PGT and why they enjoy working here.

The power of PGT is real, we promise you that. But instead of listening to us, listen to what Jason has to say about PGT.

Today, Jason wanted to share what made him join the PGT team early on.

Give it a quick listen!

Meet Jeff

Associate Spotlight: Jeff Guido

Jeff joined our team back in October and has been grinding away ever since. He’s a pretty simple guy- doesn’t need all the bells and whistles to enjoy life.

He has been local to the area his entire life. He attended Monroe High School and Miami University. He started out his professional career as a mortgage banker. Jeff was the founder of Pinnacle Home Mortgage in 1999.

His logistics career started with PGT.

“I couldn’t be happier! I work with a fantastic team of associates. When you love what you do, it doesn’t even seem like work!” – Jeff Guido –

In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family. He has one brother and two sisters that are all very close. Jeff has one daughter who married a man Jeff admires greatly. He loves playing golf, boating, playing guitar, and skateboarding. He summed it up by saying “I guess you could say that I am living the dream.”

Power of PGT with Sam

Best Job He's Had

You’ve heard from a few of our associates on what they like about PGT and why they enjoy working here. Today, Sam decided to tell you why working at PGT is the best job he’s ever had.

Today’s video is short and sweet- but you get a quick understanding of what Sam likes about PGT and where he came from.

Give it a quick listen!

Meet Erik

Experience Not Required

Did you know that PGT is willing to train anyone that is willing to come in every day, work hard, and learn? Erik wanted a career change and dove right in. He’s committed to learning and growing with the company and is taking the industry by storm!

We asked Erik to introduce himself for today’s Associate Spotlight! This is what he had to say:

I was born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio but moved to Cincinnati earlier this year to start working at PGT. I went to school at Ohio University in Athens for a couple years where I studied engineering and business. At OU, I was part of a great student organization on campus called Phi Sigma Pi, a co-ed honors fraternity that focused on local philanthropy, professional development, and events to learn new skills.

I am the youngest of four in my family. I have two older sisters and an older brother. We were raised to have a love for learning, so we all enjoy reading and learning new skills.

I’ve been a lifelong student of martial arts. I started with Okinawan Shuri-ryu karate when I was nine and passed my black belt test at 17 years old. After that, I spent a couple years training in Krav Maga and taught others whenever I could. One of my favorite experiences was getting to teach self-defense classes at Ohio University. I also enjoy archery and playing video games with my sister and cousin.

I enjoy working at PGT because of the relaxed, team-oriented atmosphere. It’s so different from anywhere else I’ve worked. Instead of being there because we have to, every one of us shows up each day to win. It’s a great feeling knowing that I played a part in a whole truckload of a freight reaching its destination on time.

If you’re considering joining our team, my advice is to take the leap. It is the greatest opportunity for anyone that is willing to learn, adapt and be part of a very successful and growing company. I am new to the transportation industry but with the PGT training, I already feel experienced and confident. I am more excited for the future opportunities and success.

Ladies in Logistics

It's time for a change!

Logistics is commonly referred to as a “man’s world.”

We’re here to change that.

There are about 125 million people in the Logistics & Supply Chain industries across the globe. Do you know how many of them are female? LESS THAN FIVE PERCENT!

Depending on who you ask, the number ranges from 2 to 4.5%. That’s crazy when you actually sit and think about it.

PGT is proud to say that almost 20% of our associates are women. That’s a great step, but we don’t think it’s enough. We would love to add more women to our staff- they bring a completely different dynamic and atmosphere.

In an effort to encourage more women to take the leap into the industry, we are going to start a new segment spear headed by Kandra Dauwe- Ladies in Logistics!

Each month we will be introducing one of our LILs (Ladies in Logistics), so you can get to know them, what they are about, and what they are achieving in the logistics world. We will be discussing challenges that women face that most men typically do not have to deal with. We hope to provide a place where women can grow within their field, connect with other ladies and resources, and thrive!

Our LILs may be the minority in the office, but their presence is known. (Girls run the world, right Beyonce?) There is often a stereotype in logistics because it is dominated by men however, the ladies are letting their names be known as well these days. Besides the ladies that we have in our office, we are starting to see a new trend- a lot of our customers have women running their logistics departments! We believe we are turning the corner of what may be one day an equal playing field.

We look forward to bringing you all on this journey with us.

Power of PGT with Kandra & Jenn

How PGT has impacted their lives

You’ve heard from a few of our associates on what they like about PGT and why they enjoy working here. Today, Kandra and Jenn decided they wanted to tell you their stories together.

The video today is them talking to each other (and you) about how the jump from their previous job to a career with PGT was the best decision for them. They explain what they like about it, and what keeps them coming back for more- even with an hour+ commute every day.

Give it a listen!

Meet Brandon

A Logistics Man

He must love it since he’s been doing it for every bit of four years at this point. Brandon Cliffe joined our team at the start of 2022 and has been a go-getter ever since. Why? “I just enjoy every minute of being in logistics,” he explained.

Before breaking into the industry, Brandon attended the University of Cincinnati (Go Bearcats!) like several others in our office. Outside of work, Brandon is a family guy. He is marrying his fiancé next month and is excited to celebrate with their kids. He has two kids, a four-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter. Brandon enjoys spending time with them and watching them grow up. When he has the chance – free time is often hard to come by – he loves to golf.

Brandon takes pride in helping our customers with honesty and integrity. “I wholeheartedly believe that we provide a fantastic service by helping our customers with their supply chain and bringing drivers home safely to their families,” Brandon stated. “We are the bridge between shippers/manufacturers and the carriers who haul the loads.”

Brandon enjoys the camaraderie and relationships he’s built with customers and co-workers at PGT.

“We are a tight nit group,” he said referencing the PGT staff. “The culture here is amazing.”

What motives Brandon? It’s simple- family and money. That motivation is rooted in everything money provides for him and his family and the opportunities and freedoms that come along with it. “I just want to provide for my family and experience life with them in whatever direction that takes us.”

Armed Forces Day

Thank-you, Soliders

Any day dedicated to honoring members of the United States military is a great day. Today we honor those currently serving our country.

All of us at PGT are screaming THANK-YOU! We know “thank-you” will never be enough, so we try to live each day in your honor. Words cannot express our gratitude for all of your sacrifices and commitment to preserving the freedoms we often take for granted. While today is the official day for honoring our active-duty soldiers, we want you all to know that we appreciate you and pray for you every single day.

Thank-you for your service.

Thank-you for your dedication.

Thank-you for your commitment.

Thank-you for your fight.

Thank-you for your protection.

Thank-you for your sacrifice.

Thank-you for your valor.

Thank-you for our freedoms.

Thank-you for defending our rights.

Thank-you for YOU.

We have a few veterans in our office who wanted to give a special shout out to their fellow soldiers.

“I would like to thank all the service members who are currently serving this great country. Just as importantly, I would like to thank all the people who sit at home and worry, support, love and pray for the fine men and women who wear the uniform. The sacrifice doesn’t end with the solider. Many loved ones carry the same burden. Thank-you for your unending love and support while they are serving and for accepting them home with open arms. To me, the greatest heroes are the ones at home waiting with open arms and hearts for their solider to return safely.”

Paul Vezina, National Account Manager, served in the Army for 5 years and did 2 tours in Iraq.

“There are a lot of brave men and women serving our great country. I am proud to have been one of them. I would like to take a minute to thank the soldiers out there protecting our great country. I know first hand the sacrifice you make every day to ensure the people of the United States continue to live free.

Thank-you for your service, today and every day. There are no greater heroes than those that serve their country and the ones they leave back home.”

Rob Johnson, National Account Manager, served in the Army for 11 years.

Power of PGT with Chad

Funny Guy Strikes Again

We can tell you everything you want to hear about PGT over and over until we are blue in the face.

Or we could let you hear from our associates directly. We decided to go this route, because, well it’s more fun!

We sat down with each of our associates and let them say what they wanted to say about PGT. You’ll hear a variety of stories, but you’ll get a different perspective on why each person chose to take a leap of faith with PGT and why they continue as a valuable member of our team.

It’s unscripted – I promise! (Although, I think most would have preferred a script!)

Today we are sharing the Power of PGT according to Chad. Give it a listen. (We promise he isn’t the youngest haha!)
