Interview Process

Interviewing at PGT

In a world where everyone seems to be hiring all the time, the interview process has become very critical. For a lot of people, interviews are stressful, nerve-racking and something we don’t enjoy, regardless of which side of the interview we are on.

The more you know going in, the better, right? So here is a quick snapshot of what our process is like. We think you will find it simple, relaxed, and productive!

At PGT, we have modified and streamlined our interview process. The entire process can go as quickly or as long as you want it to. We will always make time to schedule interviews same day, next day, or next week- whatever works best in your schedule. And we aren’t all about taking up hours of your time!

So what are the steps?

Step 1- Apply

Step 2- Schedule

Step 3- Phone

Step 4- Virtual

Step 5- In Person

It seems obvious right? We don’t know that you are interested unless you apply and/or send in your resume!

We’ll review your resume and call you to schedule an interview if we think you’d be a good fit!

There will be a phone interview with our Director of Administration and/or human resources rep.

We would conduct a virtual interview with our lead broker (if applicable for the position applying for).

The final step is an in-person interview with the President of the company at our headquarters.

All of these steps can be completed within 2 days if you want it to! We are flexible and will go to the beat of your drum when it comes to this process.

Better yet? Our onboarding process- offer letter to first day on the job- can take as little as a week if you want it to!

Recruiting & Marketing

Looking for Perfect Candidate

We’ve filled a lot of our open positions in the last couple of weeks. We’ve had 4 people start in the last week! That’s awesome and is a prime example of true growth!

At PGT, the more people we hire, the more people we will need to hire! Sounds crazy, right? Well, as we add more team members to our sales team, we need more administrative and back office people to support what they are doing. It’s a never ending cycle…and WE LOVE IT!

One of the positions that opens up when we are constantly hiring at the rate we are, is someone to manage that hiring process. We are currently looking for a recruiter who can handle some marketing and general human resources tasks as well.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be the backbone to our ongoing growth and future potential.

So what does it entail? You can check out the full job description on Indeed. It is pretty much exactly what it seems: find associates that fit with our team, mission, and goals. You will do that through our online accounts, career fairs, research, etc. You will also handle the onboarding process and ensuring all new associates can hit the ground running when they walk in the door on their first day!

What’s in it for you? Competitive salary with incentive bonuses and endless opportunity.

Other than that, check out what PGT is all about.

Class of 2022

Congrats, Grads!

Graduation is a milestone in a young person’s life. Regardless of what you are graduating from- preschool, 8th grade, high school, college, trade school, etc- it is symbolic of the hard work you put in through the year(s).

At some point, graduation means entering the “real world” where work becomes a significant part of your every day life. We are here to help you get that jump start you are looking for as you embark on the new chapter of your life.

Obviously, if you’re graduating preschool or 8th grade, we don’t have much of an opportunity for you just yet. However, because we are willing (and able) to train, we welcome high school and college grads with open arms. (Yes, it’s true, you don’t need a degree to work here!)

We are a brokerage. We are in the logistics industry. Just don’t let those things fool you.

I bet when you think logistics you think of loading and unloading trailers. Maybe shipping and receiving. Or being on the dock. You probably think of the hands-on, physical jobs associated with the industry.

What if I told you we weren’t any of those things? We have many departments here and that continues to grow as we grow.

We have jobs- or better yet, careers- for many people and interests.

Sales
Accounting
Administration
Logistics Coordinators
Recuriters
Marketing

Think about it. Do you want to a bunch of debt from college loans? Or do you have college loans that you want to get paid off as quickly as possible?

We pride ourselves in our compensation packages and what PGT has to offer, even without any experience. Can you imagine being fresh out of high school or college and making $100,000 in the first year? What about $200,000? At PGT, that’s a real possibility.

Check out our current openings on Indeed.

Power of PGT with Jason

Leadership & Compensation

You’ve heard from a few of our associates on what they like about PGT and why they enjoy working here.

The power of PGT is real, we promise you that. But instead of listening to us, listen to what Jason has to say about PGT.

Today, Jason wanted to share what made him join the PGT team early on.

Give it a quick listen!

D-Day

June 6, 1944

A day marked in history forever.

On this date 78 years ago, more than 160,000 troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of the French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy. The allied troops were sent to fight Nazi Germany by General Dwight D Eisenhower. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircrafts supported the invasion.

Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “we will accept nothing less than full victory.”

Many lives were lost on D-Day all those years ago. More than 9,000 allied soldiers were killed or wounded in the invasion. Their sacrifice wasn’t for nothing, though. More than 100,000 soldiers began the slow, hard trek across Europe to defeat Hitler and his army.

Today, please take a moment to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the largest naval, air and land operation in history. Their sacrifice is not forgotten, and our thoughts and prayers remain with their families.

Thank-you to all of our military.

DONUT DAY!

You HAVE to eat a Donut, right?

When it’s National Donut Day, you have to participate, right?

Not that we need an excuse to eat donuts or anything, but when you have one, you might as well capitalize on it.

Why is a day dedicated to donuts worthy of its own blog post? At PGT, things can get a little crazy sometimes. This industry never sleeps which can cause some headaches and situations that pose a challenge every once in awhile (let’s be real, what job doesn’t?).

When we have the opportunity to take a short break and hang out with each other- even if it’s for 5 minutes- we jump at the chance. We are all for having a good time, no matter how long it is…and if you add food to the mix, count us in!

Take a minute and have a donut today- because, why not?

Chico’s Promise

Chico's Legacy Lives On

Giving back to the communities that have given so much to us is vitally important to all of us at PGT. As a new company, it has always been something we wanted to do. As we continue to grow, we have made it a priority to give back in some capacity.

It may not be the world’s biggest contribution, but as Mother Teresa once said, “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest to you.”

That’s what we are doing.

This month we had a Putt Challenge in the office (see video for reference). The winner got to keep half the pot and the other half was donated to a local charity.

Who did we choose for this challenge?

Chico’s Promise.

With Memorial Day earlier this month, we thought it would be a great idea to support a veteran’s organization. United States Army and Vietnam veteran, Mike Monahan, started Chico’s Promise in honor of his beloved Scout Dog, Chico. While Chico didn’t make it out of Vietnam, Mike has made it his goal to save 50,000 dogs in his memory.

Through Chico’s Promise, both Mike and Chico continue to serve our country in a different way. We are proud to be a small part of his mission by donating $250 to this great organization.

If you’d like to donate to Chico’s Promise (a 501(c)(3) organization), you can do so on their website . No amount is too small! We also encourage you to buy Mike’s book, Chico’s Promise, that tells the story of Chico in his voice. You can do that by clicking here.

Thank-you, Mike & Chico, for your service and sacrifice!

“Chico, my superhero, saved my life, but I couldn’t return the favor. So my mission is to save 50,000 dogs in his memory!”

Ladies in Logistics

It's time for a change!

Logistics is commonly referred to as a “man’s world.”

We’re here to change that.

There are about 125 million people in the Logistics & Supply Chain industries across the globe. Do you know how many of them are female? LESS THAN FIVE PERCENT!

Depending on who you ask, the number ranges from 2 to 4.5%. That’s crazy when you actually sit and think about it.

PGT is proud to say that almost 20% of our associates are women. That’s a great step, but we don’t think it’s enough. We would love to add more women to our staff- they bring a completely different dynamic and atmosphere.

In an effort to encourage more women to take the leap into the industry, we are going to start a new segment spear headed by Kandra Dauwe- Ladies in Logistics!

Each month we will be introducing one of our LILs (Ladies in Logistics), so you can get to know them, what they are about, and what they are achieving in the logistics world. We will be discussing challenges that women face that most men typically do not have to deal with. We hope to provide a place where women can grow within their field, connect with other ladies and resources, and thrive!

Our LILs may be the minority in the office, but their presence is known. (Girls run the world, right Beyonce?) There is often a stereotype in logistics because it is dominated by men however, the ladies are letting their names be known as well these days. Besides the ladies that we have in our office, we are starting to see a new trend- a lot of our customers have women running their logistics departments! We believe we are turning the corner of what may be one day an equal playing field.

We look forward to bringing you all on this journey with us.
