July Update

A Note from the President

The month of July was very exciting for the PGT team!

We had multiple team events that took place, including our 4th of July cookout and our private bus trip to the Fruedenfest in Oldenburg, Indiana. None of this is possible without our team winning in the trenches daily. We continue to add extremely motivated individuals to our team
month in and month out. These individual contributors are a key component to
our customers, carriers, and company’s success.

Our business model and value proposition continue to deliver record breaking results. The PGT team continues to grow our customer and carrier base month over month and July

was no exception. The PGT team focuses on providing proactive communication, transparency, and bottom-line cost savings to each of our customers. This has proven to be a winning solution and has allowed us to compete against the who’s-who on the 3PL space as well as gain market share.

The PGT team will be looking to end Q3 on high note, with record results and will continue to push forward into Q4. Even with market headwinds and volatility, the PGT team has stayed the course and kept our promises to both our customers and carriers.

As always, I want to thank the PGT team, our customers, and carriers.

Power of PGT with Thomas

It's all about the money

You’ve heard from most of our associates on why they chose to come to PGT, what they enjoy about working here, what keeps them here for the long-haul, and what they are looking forward to in the future.

Today, we hear from Thomas Gibbs. He is one of our newer associates who jumped in head first and instantly pushed himself to be the best. He comes to work every day and works hard. He has become very successful very quickly.

Why? How? It’s all him! He wants that money!

Give the video a listen to hear what he has to say. If nothing else, it will give you a little laugh to start your day!

Team Leader Training

Taking the Lead

As PGT continues to grow, so does the expectations for our associates, especially our top performers. Earlier this month, we divided our sales associates into three teams, each being led by one of the three top National Account Executives. Jake Garn, Brandon Cliffe & Jason Harper have a team of people they are responsible for when it comes to building relationships with customers and carriers. The success of their teams is determined by their leadership and effort.

Not only has this given Jake, Brandon and Jason leadership opportunities, it has continued to build on the relationships our staff has amongst themselves. Adding some organizational structure ensures there are multiple points of contact for our associates to go to if they need help or advice. This allows for a defined reporting structure that everyone understands.

Jake, Brandon & Jason have taken on the new responsibilities and their new role at 100% effort. One of their first initiatives was to start a short training session on Wednesday mornings. They cover anything and everything that will help better our associates, their team members, and our company. They dove right in & began leading by example! Keep up the good work, guys!

Meet Matt

Made for Logistics

At PGT we are willing to hire someone without any experience in the industry because we can train them and get them headed in the right direction!

However, we love when someone with years of experience makes the switch to join PGT. Today’s spotlight is one of those people.

Today we introduce you to Matt Tankovich.

Matt is originally from Findlay, Ohio. He moved to Cincinnati for college before starting his career in logistics. He joins PGT with seven years of experience under his belt!

He takes a lot of pride in helping those around him become better, both personally and professionally. That’s something that drew him to PGT. Matt says he enjoys working here because “the office has a competitive atmosphere, but anyone will lend a helping hand. Everyone wants everyone around them to be successful.”

Matt has been in the industry for awhile. His best advice to anyone considering joining our team is “be willing to give it six months because putting in a few months of hard work and sacrifice will be a total game changer for you and your family.”

Outside of work, Matt enjoys being outside and active. He loves getting out on the water and rebuilding vehicles. He’s currently rebuilding a white, OJ Simpson style, Ford bronco.

July LIL

She Believed She Could

              By: Kandra Dauwe

This month we are putting the spotlight on our first Logistics Administrator, Jennifer Sloan, who goes by Jenn in the office. What better timing too- Jenn is coming up on her one year anniversary with PGT next week!

We are lucky to have Jenn on our team here. She wears a lot of hats and has proven to be a go-to person for just about anything. When someone has a question about carrier set-up, customer set-up, payables, receivables, or any daily task, Jenn is their first stop!

The logistics industry offers a variety of positions. Jenn handles a lot of the administrative tasks throughout the course of the day, but as we continue to grow, so will her responsibilities. The opportunities are endless in this industry, contrary to what most people think of when they think logistics.

We asked Jenn if the logistics world is what she expected it to be. “Honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect. I just came in with an open mind, was willing to learn and ask questions, and pushed through the hard days,” she answered.

Jenn was in the trucking industry for eight years prior to joining the PGT team. She had gotten out of the industry for a few years, but when the opportunity presented itself, she wanted to jump back in.

“When I found PGT and learned about the vision and opportunity, I could see myself succeeding there,” Jenn explained. “I could tell I would be part of something big, so I wanted to get in on the ground floor so I could watch it grow from the start.”

Since we are talking about ladies in logistics, of course we had to ask her what advice she would give to other women thinking about starting a new career path. “I would tell them to go for it and to not be afraid of this industry. It isn’t always easy, but it is definitely worth it. There are so many roles available that it becomes very easy to find one that fits for you.”

When it comes down to it, Jenn’s journey in this industry started with the common motto: “She believed she could, so she did.”

The future is bright- for Jenn and for PGT! We look forward to her continued success.

Meet Justin

Cincinnati Native

Today’s spotlight will introduce you to one of our newest sales account executives. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Meet Justin Buchner!

Justin has lived in Cincinnati his entire life. He attended Hondros College of Business and studied business management.

He married is wife Brittany seven years ago and together they have two children who keep them both very busy with all the sports they play.

Family and money are my biggest motivations in life. I pride myself on being a positive influence in our kids’ lives and I enjoy spending time with them.

“I have been in different aspects of trucking for over twenty years. This is the first full-blown logistics role I have had, though,” Justin shared. “PGT has been very welcoming since day one. They took the time to train and answer any question I have had. Everyone works together as a team daily, which is not seen in every work environment.”

Justin believes this is the place to be for anyone interested or even curious about the logistics industry. He’s very familiar with the challenges and fears of making a carrier change, but he feels right at home at PGT. “The positive leadership makes it an easier transition. Everyone wants you

to be part of the success they are experiencing,” he said.

In his spare time, Justin loves going to Reds games and vacations on the beach. He just loves spending as much as possible with his family.

We’re Remodeling!

Growing our team means growing our office!

We always knew we would have to expand and remodel our office at some point. We’d be lying if we thought that would have started in Q2 of 2022.

But, here we are! In the middle of a remodel a year (or more) ahead of time! It’s a good problem to have, that’s for sure.

We’ve talked about it in a couple of blogs in the last few weeks, so we thought it was time to share more about it. Our team is growing quickly, so we had to jump on the remodel sooner than expected. We only have a few desks left on the main sales floor, so we thought we better get moving so we don’t have to put a hold on growing our team.

It’s started and underway. In early June we cleared everything out and donated most of the office furniture and equipment to local businesses who jumped at the opportunity for some quality stuff! The carpet was torn out earlier this month and the electrician, contractor, painters, etc. have all come through to get their pieces going!

It won’t be long now! Check out our “before” pictures. Yes, they aren’t really the “before” because I didn’t think to get them before the work started. But these are close enough to the start that they will have to do.

We will keep you updated as progress happens! We are excited for our next chapter!

Hiring!

Join our Team!

If we’ve told you once, we’ve probably told you 100 times!

WE. ARE. HIRING!

Yes, we are still hiring, but probably not for the reason you think. It’s not that we can’t find anyone. We have found many new associates to join our team and they are already off to doing big things!

The reality is, we are just always going to be hiring. If you aren’t growing, what you are doing, right? That’s what we think anyway. We are getting ready to redo our part of our office building so that growth doesn’t stop!

So come join us! Get in on the ground floor so you can claim to be one who was here from the start! Our team has fun together in and out of the office and we promise, you will be welcomed with open arms! Just come ready to work hard so we can play harder!

You can apply on Indeed or just give us a call at 513-575-7645.

Goshen Strong

Helping our Neighbors

Last week, our neighbors in Goshen, OH were impacted by the severe weather much of the area saw. They got the worst of it when a confirmed EF2 tornado touched down and damaged many homes, businesses, and the community. The tornado traveled about 2.5 miles and destroyed anything in its path.

While the community is working to rebuild the loss, we wanted to do something to help. We got our team together to come up with a plan. Together with our associates, PGT is proud to be able to supply the city of Goshen with $550 worth of supplies and gift cards to help our neighbors rebuild and get back on their feet.

We were fortunate to avoid the tornado, but we know many others haven’t been so lucky! We are proud to help in any way we can!

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be sent to our neighbors!

Meet Erica

Family First

We added another LIL to our team a couple months ago! She’s new to the industry, but picked up on it like she’s been here for years! She introduces herself in today’s spotlight.

Meet Erica Willis!

Hello everyone! My name is Erica. I’m a native to New Richmond, Ohio. I married my husband Brad 20 years ago this October. Together we have four lovely children: Madalyn, Logan, Landen, and Macie. We also love our family dog named Brooks.

My family is my greatest motivation. They are my world and I would do anything to give them the best life I possibly can. I pride myself on working hard and setting a great example for my children. I’m blessed to work at a company that supports these aspirations.

I really enjoy the atmosphere at PGT. Our team is great at what they do, but everyone also knows how to (and isn’t afraid to) have fun together. They’ve all been very supportive of me since day one and have offered up many words of encouragement as I navigate logistics for the first time. I am thankful that I’m able to refer to my coworkers as friends. Everyone has been so welcoming and made me feel truly at home.

If someone every asked me about joining our PGT team, I would advise them that they have to be willing to work hard. The job isn’t always easy, but the payoff is definitely worth it. You never have the same day twice and you never know what challenge you’re going to run into- and that keeps things interesting! Jumping head first into a new company in an unfamiliar industry can be difficult, but I’ve grown professionally and personally every single time I come into the office. Who doesn’t want to grow and become better?

One of my favorite things to do outside of work is being creative. I love helping my daughter with her paintings, cooking unique meals, and starting a new home renovation. Creative outlets allow me to relax.

What’s great about PGT- they give me the ability to use those creative outlets in the office as well! They allow me the opportunity to brainstorm and come up with new ideas, even as the new girl on the block!
